David Chipperfield

David Chipperfield was born in 1953, London, UK. He received his diploma in architecture from the Architectural Association (AA) School of Architecture in London in 1977, and worked for Douglas Stephen, Richard Rogers and Norman Foster from 1978 to 1984. He established David Chipperfield Architects in 1984 and in 1987 established an office in Berlin. In 1999 he won the Heinrich Tessenow Gold Medal. He was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to architecture. His recent projects include the America’s Cup Building, Valencia, Spain (2006), Museum of Modern Literature, Marbach am Neckar, Germany (2006) and Des Moines Public Library, Des Moines, USA (2006).
